What's the difference between genealogy and family history?
Genealogy is a documented line of people traced continuously from an ancestor or to an ancestor.
Family history is an extension to genealogy in which the life and times of the people, concerned, are investigated.
Is it expensive to do my own research?
There are many "free" sites available to do your research. Most libraries have memberships to the "pay" sites and you can do research there. You will find that libraries and cemetaries will be your new favorite places. We offer classes in how to get started.
How long does the research take?
The TV shows are very misleading. The have many people doing the research and spending hours of time. Sometimes the "stars align" and you find an easy trail and other times, there's the infamous "brickwall" and you back up and have to go around looking at different people to try and find your people.
